Walking trail village of RABORCI - village of POPCHEVO - village of BELOTINO

The walking trail starts at the village of Raborci, and by asphalt road it passes through the village of Popchevo, and reaches the village of Belotino. The village of Raborci is attractive for its special beauty, and the richness in fertile fields, pastures, and meadows.

The local population in this area is engaged in cultivation of various agricultural and fruit products. The green and rich meadows and pastures are ideal places for farmers who take their cattle for grazing.

From here the walking trail continues to the village of Popchevo. The lower parts of this area are prevalent with short stemmed forest, whereas the evergreens are prevalent in the upper parts.

The trail from the village of Popchevo, passes through the bridge of “Vodocha” dam, and continues to the village of Belotino. This trail is distinctive because it passes through the artificial lake of “Vodocha” dam, which is characterized by beautiful landscapes. Many visitors throughout the year are especially attracted to the sport fishing.

  • Flora and fauna:

The walking trail has diverse flora, fungi and fauna. The grass flora is rich in diverse types of flowers, tea, and fruits, as well as short stemmed forest including: raspberries, blackberries, currants, blueberries, dog rose. There are also different types of mushrooms: chanterelles – cantharellus; champignon- agaricus bisporus and parasol mushroom - Macrolepiota procera.

The lower parts of the trail are prevalent with deciduous trees including: betuala alba – birch; tilia sp. – linden; acer sp. – maple. The evergreens, present in the upper parts include: pinus sp. – pine; juniperus sp. – juniper; and thuja sp. - thuja.

The richness and heterogeneity of types of eco-systems found here are the result of a favourable climate and specific geographic location.

Fauna that can be spotted on the trail include: rabbits, wild boar, wolves and foxes. Among the birds that can be seen are: nightingales, pheasants, partridges, eagles and falcons, and there are also various kinds of insects.
